We are a rail advocacy group organized by RI State Senator Victoria Gu. Our working group consists of Westerly, RI and Stonington, CT residents with backgrounds in economic development, municipal and regional planning, environmentalism, public service, and more — all united by a common interest in improving rail service at the Westerly train station.
Our Mission
Our mission is to engage with transportation agencies, elected officials, community stakeholders, and others to coordinate the expansion of rail service at the Westerly train station to better connect the greater Westerly, RI—Pawcatuck, CT community with the broader region and, in doing so, enhance our community’s economic, environmental, and social well-being.
Our Vision
Our vision is to make the Westerly train station a vibrant transportation hub that enjoys full Amtrak Northeast Regional service and serves as the terminus for two commuter rail lines: CTRail’s Shore Line East and MBTA’s Providence Line. Central to accomplishing this vision is to retrofit the station with high-level platforms, which will improve accessibility for passengers and operational efficiency for trains.
